POWERPOINT   "User Profiles Inside Out", Helge Klein; User profiles have been high on the list of pain points in server-based computing for a long time, second only to printing. The situation has not changed much over the years, even though Vista and Server 2008 introduced the new V2 profile format. Naturally, many vendors have jumped on the bandwagon and released products designed to help alleviate the pain. In addition to third-party solutions, there are numerous ways to tweak the way user profiles work, each with its own merits. Consider folder redirection: surely a good thing!? But should you redirect AppData?; In this session, Helge outlines the choices an administrator of a centralized computing environment has, be it VDI or "traditional" Citrix XenApp. You will learn about the dos and don'ts when configuring or troubleshooting user profiles and know how to avoid common mistakes.

Master Class AppSense Suite 8

Grand PubForum 2010 Frankfurt

POWERPOINT   Introduction to XenApp 6 by Lalit Kaushal, Citrix EMEA What's new in XenApp 6 on installation, HDX, Licensing side

Citrix XenDesktop XD Citrix XenDesktop 4 MasterClass by Oliver Lomberg and Ronald Grass, During this MasterClass we will deep-dive into the XenDesktop 4 components and we’ll give you guidelines, best practices in how-to successfully implement all components together in existing environments and howto avoid possible pitfalls.

We will cover the core components Desktop Delivery Controller (DDC) and Virtual Desktop Agent (VDA), how they do interact, what needs to be considered and what can be tuned and tweaked to make them working bullet-proof. When running XenDesktop, most of the virtual desktop it will certainly run on a virtualization platform like Citrix XenServer, MS Hyper-V or VMWare vSphere. We’ ll cover best practices for these platforms and we’ll give you guidelines on what can be done to set (shift) the right expectations.

The real tool for boys are Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS). This is the single instance management to provide the virtual or physical machine workloads for the XenDesktop environment. There are some truth and myth about PVS and we would like to share information and figures from real-world projects and how to make PVS work like a charm.

Additionally we will give you some guidelines for implementing HDX-3D Professional Graphics and the common components like WebInterface, etc.

POWERPOINT   SMS Passcode - Practical Session,  Jakob Ostergaard, VP Support, SMS PASSCODE - hands-on workshop on modern two-factor authentication of Citrix This session will provide a quick walk through of the tips and tricks on protecting Citrix systems with a modern sms based two-factor authentication solution. The session will demonstrate how to configure Citrix Access Gateways, NetScaler and Web Interface including the new sms authentication in the Citrix Receiver for iPhone. The session is covered by Jakob Ostergaard, the technical lead that architected the sms authentication solution in cooperation with Citrix R&D.

POWERPOINT Citrix VMHostedApp versus RemoteApp for Hyper-V, Wilco van Bragt, Microsoft MVP on RDS, Citrix CTP, Both Microsoft and Citrix included a feature in their latest product releases, which allow you to publish applications from a workstation version operating system (such as Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows XP). In this presentation, the feature will be explained, as well as the installation and configuration of these features using a live demo.

POWERPOINT   Citrix Provisioning Services Survival Track, Thorsten Rood, Citrix CTP, Within a dynamic datacenter world, almost no reason exists why not any kind of XenApp workload should be powered by Provisioning Services (and referring to VDI with XenDesktop, it’s obvious anyway). But PVS will become a monster if you are working with demanding customers and expect to scale out a solution easily and you need to meet SLA and expectations. This session is about availability, complexity and pitfalls from real world project experience.

Quest vWorkspace Architecture, Michel Roth, Microsoft MVP, Citrix CTP, VmWare vExpert, In this session Michel Roth will explain how Quest vWorkspace provides a unique application and desktop delivery solution that allows customers to mix and match to achieve their own best of breed solution resulting in a perfect workspace.

POWERPOINT   "Cloudbursting" Jim Moyle, VisionApp, UK

It seems like every vendor in the world is hyping 'cloud' somewhere in their marketing pitch. The noise is so prolific that it's hard for any astute technologist to ignore. As desktop and application delivery specialists, many of us have been building and running 'clouds' for quite some time, albeit 'private clouds,' private delivery systems, centralized hosting environments, or whatever the term du jour may be.

As we've come to expect, the delivery technologies we use and the plethora of available services delivered out of the cloud have evolved at a dramatic pace. As we dive down into the microcosm of our specific niche of the industry, we're seeing a couple vendors pitching a hybrid approach to cloud service consumption - Citrix and Amazon. The noise they're making together means that we'll all likely have to field questions on the topic sometime soon, which begs the question: Is it real, or is it hype?

This session explores this hybrid approach to cloud usage (which has been called 'cloud bursting') and seeks to answer some of the key questions on all of our minds including the following::

• What is 'cloud bursting'?

• Why would anyone want to do it?

• Is it reality or hype?

• What are some of the things we have to consider before adopting such an approach?

• Which vendors provide the right cloud infrastructure?

• What are the infrastructure components we need to achieve the right result?

• How do Citrix and Amazon do it?

• What support does Citrix provide to help?

• What support does Amazon provide to help?

• How do I build it?

• Can I do it with 'off the shelf components'?

• Can I extend my existing infrastructure?

POWERPOINT    "Supporting Macs and iPhones in your corporate infrastructure", Rene Vester, Citrix CTP and Jacob Berg, independent Virtualization Expert, Mac computers and iPhones are becoming more popular among users. BYOC concepts are introducing more Macs into "no-Mac" companies. With the introduction of additional platforms, IT organizations face new challenges in handling these non-Windows devices. This session will lay out the options with demonstrations of Mac/Citrix use cases to show how new types of devices can be incorporated into existing or planned Citrix infrastructure.

POWERPOINT   "Improve your Infrastructure environment in a measured way", Christian Fenneberg, The session will focus on how to use EdgeSight in improving any IT environment, in a measurable manner. Using EdgeSight 5.3 as a monitoring mechanism will help solve issues faster. During the session examples are given on how to turn the Support department from a reactive burden into a proactive asset. This will improve user satisfaction, create a stable infrastructure and involve as few people as possible. How do you prove your value to any business with EdgeSight?

“Personalize Regardless Delivery” by Bas Bremer & Dan O'Connor from AppSense

The first layer is the operating system…The second layer is the application set…The third layer is… the user. For years in our Pubforum history we keep you up to date on

our “User Environment Management” solutions. More and more techniques are used to

deliver applications to users these days. It could even be the case that based on your context the application today is delivered through a published application (locally

installed), tomorrow it is delivered through App-V on a virtual desktop and next week it is delivered through Citrix Streaming.

Our on the fly virtualization techniques are capable of dealing with the user’s profile

settings (personalization) out of the box regardless those delivery techniques. With

Application Manager and Performance Manager we will be showing how to harden your

golden build, allowing context based access control and show how we can

add more users to a terminal/xenapp server .
